What’s in it?
I use only pasteurized dairy, eggs and cheeses (goat, mascarpone, etc).
I only use organic produce any time the skins or shells are used in the product. This includes citrus, berries, vanilla beans, and garden herbs like rosemary or mint.
Spices come from Penzey’s, sometimes a local ethnic market, for harder to find spices I order from Etsy or another specialty supplier online.
IMPORTANT ingredient information
Ingredient transparency is extremely important to me!!
I am still formulating and scaling my original ice cream recipes, and sometimes they end up being changed during production to include or exclude an ingredient from my original recipe. If this happens, you will notice items crossed out on the ingredient labels or a supplemental label added. This is part of the fine tuning…the labels have to be applied to a dry container, so I have to print them before the ice cream is produced and frozen. Once the initial batch is formulated and the recipe is finalized, future labels will be updated to reflect the ingredients.
ALLERGIES!!
All of the equipment is exposed to various common food allergens, including but not limited to dairy, eggs, soy, gluten, peanuts, and tree nuts. Everything is thoroughly sanitized between batches, but PLEASE be mindful of this when consuming the product. I would feel terrible if someone experienced an allergic reaction!!
Do you have dairy free ice cream?
YES! I use a coconut & oat milk base for DF/Vegan frozen desserts. Please email me at lindsayshandmadect@gmail.com to be added to my DF mailing list for future updates.
Why is your ice cream so expensive?
Yes, I know you can get a half gallon of ice cream for half the cost at Stop and Shop. I am as price conscious as they come.
The ice cream you see in the supermarket is mass produced in factories by manufacturers and conglomerates with seemingly limitless resources.
They are able to source thousands of gallons of dairy and massive quantities of fruit from wherever they can find it cheapest…I can’t do that. I don’t WANT to do that.
I want to choose every individual piece of fruit that I use. I want to support local businesses and local agriculture. I want to ensure the chocolate and vanilla I use is using ethical labor practices-and they do!
This process takes a long time, but the results are worth it and I hope you will find that the price is a good value for the product. If you go to a nice restaurant and order dessert you can easily pay $9+ for a slice of foodservice cheesecake or a generic bowl ice cream..please think about that next time you question the cost of a product thats handmade from scratch! Is it expensive, or is it worth it?
